Vahluri Youth Development (VYD) visited four schools in Pietermaritzburg—Asante High, Mavangase High, Matomela High, and Luthando High—to support learners preparing for their final exams.
The team delivered exam stationery packs to matriculants who needed a boost as they entered one of the most important stages of their academic journey.
• Learners received pens, pencils, rulers, and other essentials.
• Female learners received sanitary pads to help them stay comfortable and confident during exams.
• Teachers expressed gratitude for the support during a demanding period.
You could feel the relief in the classrooms. Many learners face real challenges at home, and small gestures often carry a big message: you are seen, you are supported, and your future matters.

The outreach did not stop at education. VYD also visited families whose homes were damaged by recent floods. Grocery donations helped ease the burden on parents trying to rebuild while still providing for their children.
• Affected families received food parcels.
• VYD volunteers listened to their stories and offered encouragement.
• The gesture reminded the community that support reaches beyond the school gates.
VYD believes that young people thrive when their families are stable and their basic needs are met. This initiative reflects that commitment to both individual and community growth.
“Education is not just about exams; it’s about creating equal opportunities for every learner to reach their full potential.” – VYD Team
This is the kind of impact that grows when more people join the mission.
Would you like to invest in youth development or volunteer at future outreaches?
Your contribution can help the next group of learners face their exams with confidence and dignity.
